marco asked about the trailing stop.

If I feel confident about a position and if the position is contra trend based on double bottom I don't use trailing stop all the time. If the paper is coming back it is highly likely that it is building a triple bottom where I have to re enter. So it makes not a lot of sense to let me stop out before the lowest(low,x) only to re enter 5 minutes later.

Yesterday we had an emergency meeting here in Frankfurt.

Sitting 5 hours in a stinky office, to much coffee and listening to risk controllers talking about the uncertainty of these times. I don't need and adviser to know that these are unusual circumstances.

The result of all of this: We're forced to make a break for 1-2 weeks. After that we have to use only Saxotrader instead of Timberhill TWS. Stupid Saxotrader doesn't have an API so have to calculate my risk and my position size by foot. :(

The plus side of this trip was to meet some "coworkers" in person and having some Guinness together while talking about the global melt down and the upcoming 10 year depression.

Joshua, Andy and Floh are planing a trip to Thailand or Spain for this "not allowed to trade" week.

I'm not sure if I should go with them or stay at home and trade my personal account.

What are you guys doing? Sticking with your plan? Trading as if nothing happened? Same pattern, same rules as always?

If you ask me, this market is only driven by news and I'm not a news trader.

I shouldn't decide these stuff in a hang over, but I let you know if I'm going with the others.

So, it has been a while.

Well I'm back as a blogger and back in this whole new web 2.0 world.

Why? I've quit because I couldn't see the value of blogging and showing other traders my trades, but over the weekend I've been to Austria visiting a friend of mine who has just recently got funded 5mill from a VC Company. This company found him via his blog.

So 5mill is defiantly a reason for blogging :D

My entries are easy and so are my exits. I can describe them in one sentence:

I trade a 1:1 ration regarding to the stop and target and always trail the 1R.

Lets see an example.
I went long the EURO today. I measure the volatility. The Green line is my entry and the red line is the space that the euro needs at this point of time.

So re dline: 158877
green line: 157954
difference: = 923 = 1R

My stopp 157954 – 923 = 157031
My target 157954 + 923 = 158877

If the trade is moving in my favor, I trail the trade based on the 1R.

Yes the 1R (Volatility) can change and so do my trailing stops and target.

It is that easy.
I know there are different ways to measure volatility but this is my way. Yes I change the exit some times based on some guts feeling or when I trade neutral positions but the basic idea behind my trades is the 1:1 ratio.

Some people say, that it is stupid to use target and never fight the trend.

I don't care what other people think.

One of my loved trades are neutral position.

Neutral for me means, I go LONG the stock market with a 50k in ES and at the same time SHORT 50k in NQ.

The only reason for doing so is, when NQ and ES behave differently.

Why blogging?
A friend and coworker of mine, urged me to start this blog. We met each other last year on a summer camp and he is some kind of text, audio and video blogger since 2000.

I have no idea why I should blog and whats the use of it, but as I'm writing a trading journal anyway so I can do it publicly.

My Trading Style:
Since the beginning of my career I have a quite unique trading style: Trading the markets on simple chart formation no more no less. I'm not a big Fan of Vodoo trading like Fibonacci, Gann, Elliot Wave and stuff like this. More information about my strategy is coming soon...

My Tools (Toys):
My tools are even simpler. I have no need for a Bloomberg Terminal, Reuters, 5 monitors and emergency power supply. All my trading for my personal account is going through a notebook. That's where the name for this blog is coming from http://notebooktrader.blogspot.

My actual trading book is a Macbook Black 2.4 2Gig of RAM and I love it. Light weight and with 5 hours of battery I can use this book without a plug for a howl trading day.

I use Wifi whenever I can.
I have an additional Vodavone data card so I'm in the net whenever I need it.

OPEN VPN (Tunnelblick)
For securtiy I use always a VPN connection. When you are on WiFi it's essential but even in the office I use VPN because my Trading Accounts with IB are locked to a specific IP adress.

Thats the reason why I have an Austrian IP adress wherever I am.

I don't use an iPhone, I have a Sony Ericsson M600i and I'm preatty happy with it. Battery least for one trading day and I can get all the quotes and position on one screen even when I'm in the midde of something....

Software:
For trading software I use Interactive Broker as my broker and Saxobank as a backup broker.
Charting is done by whatever It's easy for me to post. Saxo, ABN, Oanda and stuff like this.
Company NDA do not allow me to publish the RemoteTradingDesk on a blog.

I'm not a geek, so I can't and won't use Linux in any way. Schluchtenscheißer, I know you love Linux, but I do not!!!
